Which would you recommend; facelift vs mini facelift?

Dr. Dean Kane Q & A shutterstock_77837938Q. Which would you recommend; facelift vs mini facelift? I am a 58 year old Asian woman and love being in Los Angeles. A year ago I had a subperiostesl mid-facelift to eliminate the tear trough. I noticed my face is sagging badly. The results of gravity’s constant downward pull on my face, unfortunately. I am thinking about having a facelift or mini facelift. Which do you recommend? Which is more effective? Thanks. A. Good question. Without a proper exam, I can only offer some general education. A sub-periosteal facelift elevates ALL the soft tissues including muscles, nerves, blood vessels, fat and skin off the bone and suspends it higher on the facial skeleton. A sub-periosteal facelift does not (unless performed at the same time) lift, tighten or suspend the soft tissues separately. The traditional facelift or any variation such as a mini-facelift will separate the soft tissues according to their laxity and descent and re-drape these tissues upwardly to their originating positions. You may consider a mid-facelift if you are a candidate. They can tighten, lift, suspend tissues for a more youthful appearance depending on the skills and talents of your surgeon. If your sub-periosteal facelift surgeon does not understand your concerns, a second opinion from another well experienced, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or ENT Facial Surgeon is recommended. I hope this has helped. All the best!
