What are the uses of Botox?

There are many exciting uses for Botox to soften the various aspects of the face from the brow down to the neck. In the brow, it will minimize the “ l l ” or the deep creases between the eyebrows also known as the glabella muscle. It will reduce the fine lines and wrinkles along the sides of the eyes known as the “crow’s feet”. It can help with the horizontal lines across the forehead, the vertical lines on the lips often called the smoker lines, and the muscle banding on the neck.

Can I get a brow lift effect from Botox?

Dr. Kane can achieve a Non-Surgical Brow Lift and Upper Eyelid Lift by artfully injecting Botox in the muscles that would elevate the eyebrows into a beautiful arch. This muscle relaxer is ideal to remove the wrinkles and angry look between the eyebrows, soften the crow’s feet and diminish the horizontal lines in the forehead. When injected by Dr. Dean Kane Botox can rebalance the muscles in the forehead to achieve a non-surgical brow lift and upper eyelid lift.  Baltimore patients receive a beautiful natural arch to their eyebrows and at the same time reduce the upper eyelid skin hooding.

What can I do about the corners of my mouth turning downward?

Many Baltimore women complain of their lower corners of their mouths begin to turn down as they age. A combination of using fillers like Restylane Defyne or Restylane Lyft can be injected into the corners to support the corners in an upward direction. At the same treatment, Botox can also be injected into the lower jawline to release the muscle pulling the corners of the lips down. Once injected the corners are free to have that happy smile again.

What can I do about my Lipstick Lines and Smoker Lines?

Botox is used by Dr. Dean Kane in the lips to minimize the vertical lines along the entire mouth. Whether the lip lines are due to natural expression, smoking or loss of volume from the aging process, this muscle relaxer can be injected into these lines along the lips vermillion border to stop the muscles from squeezing into creases and thereby relaxing the entire mouth. The results are fuller and softer lips without making them any larger. For patients who have lost a lot of volume in their lips, it would be ideal to do a combination of fillers like Restylane Lyft, Defyne or Refyne to plump out the lips and the use of Botox which stops the lips from creating the lip lines.

What can help the bands on my neck?

Over time the bands along the neck can become prominent and create vertical cords along the length of the neck. Dr. Dean Kane injects Botox right into these bands to relax the tightness and create a softer smoother neckline.

Will Botox help my large Masseter muscle?

Yes, for those individuals who feel they have a strong masseter muscle that extends the jawline outward, Botox injections can help reduce the size of the muscles over time. However, one needs to be careful not to over inject this muscle as you can create an imbalance of the face. Dr. Kane has very good experience to know how much Botox to inject into these muscles without causing future issues.

How many units of Botox should I get injected?

The number of units of Botox is very important in getting a complete treatment with great results. Generally, most patients need between 30 to 40 units of Botox to get the full effect.

Smaller amounts will reduce the number of areas of the forehead that can be treated. For example, 20 units will only take care of the lines between the eyebrows or just along the crow feet. If patients request that only 20 units is used for both areas, they are often disappointed as too little is being used and you can’t get the real lasting and full effects.

Botox has been approved to last 3 months and all three take up to 2 weeks to get their full effect. NewTox and Dysport are ideal if you forget that you need your wrinkle fix for an important party or event, and you only have a few days to be ready for your big night out.  Some patients find that the effects of Botox and Dysport can sometimes last up to 6 months, but this is not the common experience. Most of Dr. Dean Kane’s patients routinely schedule their next treatment 4 months apart.

Which Muscle Relaxer does Dr. Kane recommend?

Dr. Kane will recommend NewTox and Botox for the patient who needs a powerful hold to get a strong brow lift effect and little movement in the forehead. NewTox and Botox will be perfect for men and women with very deep furrows in their brows who often need a very strong muscle relaxer to stop their muscles from creasing their forehead.

For patients looking for a softer and more natural hold, Dysport will still be that go to muscle relaxer. So for example, younger patients, like the Millennials, who have very mild wrinkles in their brows and who are looking for a gentle brow lift look Dr. Kane will recommend Dysport.
