Plastic Surgeon Dr. Dean Kane of Baltimore Answers Question Regarding Sculptra, CoolSculpting and ThermiTIGHT for Residual Rippling and Dimpling Following Liposuction

Q. Fix for lipo rippling/dimpling? Thin now, not much fat to lose.  I had lipo done at a very young age. It’s been many years and i’m pretty thin now with not that much fat to rid. is there anything that can be done to make the surface appear smoother, that is effective? cool sculpting? open to other recommendations. thank you.

A. It takes great experience to perform liposuction without skin deformities. The subsequent irregularities, rippling and dimpling may be from the aging, weight changes, metabolism, swelling, cellulite and a host of other problems as much as the liposuction technique.

Sculptra, a bioactive injectable does not work as a volumizing filler but does stimulate fibroblasts to produce elastin, hyaluronic acid and structural proteins including collagen to firm and smooth the skin. My current experience has found excellent skin smoothening and tightening in large surface areas of the tummy, arms, thighs and buttocks

I have found non-surgical CoolSculpting to even out the irregularities nicely. The CoolSmooth applicator has a flat surface for those large surface areas such as the tummy and thighs. The CoolAdvantage second generation applicators are more efficient, less uncomfortable (if there is any discomfort) and extremely useful as well for prior liposuction irregularities. You may even get some contraction as well.

Next level up to minimally invasive procedures is ThermiTIGHT. This radio frequency probe is monitored to maintain the correct level of heat under the skin and into the fat to evenly distribute the energy required to “melt” the fat and contract the skin.

I am not a fan of lasers, endermologie unless Sculptra has been injected.

Please consult with a well experienced, skilled and Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist to evaluate and review your options. All the best!
