Plastic Surgeon Dr. Dean Kane of Baltimore Answers Question Regarding CoolSculpting Results of the Male Pubic Region

Q. What are the clinical outcomes of using CoolSmooth on male pubis mound fat?  I am a 63 year-old male with a pad of fat above my pubis that has steadily become more pronounced. Above my pubic area, I am very flat with some good definition in my external abdominal obliques down about 2″ above my inguinal ring area. Above that, standing, I can pinch about 1 1/2 to 2″. Will the CoolSmooth cover the typical mons pad of about 12 square inches without appreciate discomfort or post-op effects given the higher density of nerves and capillaries in this area?

A. You describe the concern and desire well. To be sure, you will need an examination by an experienced and talented Team, Certified in CoolSculpting or Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to match your desires with the correct procedure.

If this region can be pinched into a “fat fold” then CS may work, you can expect swelling and bruising which may descend to the penis and scrotum. There are 2 sets of superficial sensory nerves in this region and they may generate some discomfort as well. The CoolSmooth applicator is flat and less effective but is used on flat tummies. The CoolMini, made for the submental fat of the chin may work for you.

If there is little fat and mostly a skin fold / laxity, do not expect CS to provide much if any skin tightening. Consider ThermiTIGHT to tighten the region without surgery but with the above caveats.
