In a world of technology, laser treatments continue to advance in diversity of what can be treated and their increased effectiveness. However it can also be very confusing for the consumer who tries to understand all the different lasers out in the market.
In our Center for Cosmetic Surgery and Medspa in Baltimore, Dr. Dean Kane and I (Lauri Kane) continue to research laser technology and believe we offer the most effective laser treatments. When you come for a consultation our goal is to learn of your specific needs and guide you to your most effective treatments. Here is a brief understanding of each of the laser treatments we offer in our Medspa:
Radio Frequency Technology
The newest developments in energy have been in radio frequency heat. This very advanced technology uses radio frequency energy to effectively stimulate collagen and elastin for tightening and smoothing.
ThermiSmooth uses a wand and ultra sound gel to heat the skin around the eyes and mouth for fine crepey and textured skin. Most lasers do not allow us to get close to the eye areas, but ThermiSmooth provides a safe procedure to smooth the wrinkles of the crows feet, crepey bags under the eyes and the hooding above the eye. It is also ideal for the smoker lines or fine wrinkles of the upper lip. Five treatments are the foundation to get your optimal results.
Unlike a laser that must penetrate the skin with energy to heat the dermis, ThermiTight uses a needle diameter sized probe that is inserted under the skin to emit the warming radio frequency waves more directly and comfortably which maximizes the effectiveness of stimulating your collagen and elastin for tightening of the skin. ThermiTight has been a game changer for tightening not only the face and neck, but for rest of the body, arms and legs. Dr. Kane has seen great tightening results on the loose skin of the abdomen, inner thighs, arms, buttocks and breast.
ThermiVA is truly revolutionary in helping women restore and revitalize the most intimate part of our bodies in a very gentle, painless and non-surgical treatment. A small wand is applied to both the internal and external structures of the vagina to provide increased blood supply, nerve sensitization and stimulation of the collagen and elastin of these areas. ThermiVA has been truly effective to increase lubrication, enhance sexual sensitivity for greater orgasm levels, tightening and thickening of the interior vaginal walls and beautifying the outer vaginal lips by making them tighter. Amazingly, the results are instant with no downtime or recovery. Sexual activity can take place the same day. Three treatments are highly recommended done one month apart followed with with a yearly boost.
The Tried and True Laser Technologies
The lasers listed below have very specific goals which are very different from the Thermi Radio Frequency technology. These lasers are to reduce specific problems of the skin such as red, brown and texture issues as well as unwanted hair on the face and body.
Intense Pulse Light (IPL)
Intense Pulse Light laser effectively treats all red issues from red spider veins, rosacea, red acne scaring and red spots. IPL equally works to minimize brown pigmentation due to age spots, flat moles and sun damage. IPL treatments can be done on all face and body areas. Women particularly use IPL for the Face, Necks, Chests and Hands to reduce the red and brow issues due to aging and sun damage.
Fractional Pixel
Fractional Pixel works fantastically with texture issues of the skin. When patients have acne scarring, rough skin or irregular qualities of the face, Fractional Pixel is used to level the uneven nature of the skin to become smoother and more even.
ClearLift Laser
Clearlift Laser combines two forms of heat energy that penetrates very deep in the skin to stimulate your collagen and elastin for tightening. Patients looking for full face, neck and chest tightening gain a great benefit from ClearLift Laser. There is no downtime and the treatment is painless.
TriFecta Laser Treatment
There is a powerful effect by combining the 3 laser treatments together. The synergistic effect of three treatments done all in the same session gains a greater improvement than done individually. Most patients have multiple issues and desires in which they want skin tightening, reduction of the sun damage and smoother texture of their face, necks and chests. We call this the Trifecta as all three lasers: IPL, Fractional Pixel and Clearlift are all done right after each other reaching different specifically defined depth of the skin for a greater combined response. We recommend three sessions that are done over several months for the ideal outcome.
Laser Hair Removal (LHR)
Laser Hair Removal is a tried and true procedure that permanently reduces hair growth. LHR targets the dark hair follicle and destroys it permanently so that no hair can grow out of the hair shaft again. LHR only works on black, brown, light brown and dark red hair color. Unfortunately it does not work on very blond or gray hair. A minimum of 5 treatments are done over a 6 to 8 week period which follows the hair growth cycles. Depending on the quality and quantity of hair as well as age of the person LHR may require more than 5 treatments to achieve the permanent reduction of most of the hair growth. Touch ups are often necessary over time as well. LHR is excellent for all parts of the face and body for both men and women. Women love their lip, chin, underarms and bikinis while men target their backs, shoulders and often their necks.
