What is a Lip Flip?
Using Botox or Dysport is a very quick, easy, and very inexpensive way to enhance your lips without using fillers. The Botox/Dysport is injected into the upper lip to roll out and relax the muscle of the lip. The lip turns outward and upward making the lips look subtly poutier and a bit larger looking without actually increasing the volume with fillers. This procedure is perfect for the person who is happy with the size of their lips but want them to be fuller and a prettier shape. This will also help smooth the vertical lip lines often caused by smoking or “a lot of kissing”.
Lip Fillers versus Botox Lip Flip
If you have smaller or thinner lips, then you may choose to do both: a filler and Botox. The filler will plump and give greater volume to the lips to get a much fuller appearance and the Botox will help roll them outward. You get the best of both injectables. In Dr. Kane’s office, we are now using the newest lip filler called Restylane Kysse. It is designed to enhance the lips with a very natural volume leaving you smooth and silky. For those wanting a much fuller lip then Dr. Kane uses Restylane Lyft which is a much greater volumizer type filler.
What are the costs to do a Lip Flip?
It is very well priced because you do not need much Botox. Generally, the cost is approximately $150 to $200. The effect of the Botox Lip Flip will last about 3 months. If you add filler as well, the cost is an additional $750 (our sale price) and this will last 8 to 12 months.
Botox Lip Flip is ideal for individuals with a Gummy Smile.
What is a gummy smile? A gummy smile is when your lip becomes very tight and thin when you smile, and you can see the top gums above your teeth. Botox is injected into the specific muscle that causes the gummy smile. It is important to have a doctor who knows these muscles that causes the gummy smile as you might wind up with a crooked smile. As an experienced injector and plastic surgeon, Dr. Kane understands the muscles of the face and mouth from performing facelift surgeries for over 30 years. Dr. Kane would be injecting the levator labiss superioris muscle or the “elevator” muscle to weaken and to relax the muscle specifically causing the gummy tight smile. The relaxation of the lip muscles will then reduce the amount of the gums showing when you smile. You will also have a much softer looking smile.
