Plastic Surgeon Dr. Dean Kane of Baltimore Answers Question Regarding Sculptra for the Jawline

Center for Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa Patient

Q:  Sculptra for jawline?  I’m 43. I had infini, and I get Botox in my platysmal bands. Can sculptra help my jaw line look better? My chin is weak, and my jawline wasn’t before, but in my 42nd year I started noticing drooping!

A:  Sculptra is a bio-active filler. While it will provide a smaller amount of filling volume, it does induce skin tightening unlike any other injectable. Think of Sculptra under the skin like retinoids on the skin. The stimulate the skin to exfoliate, regulate and produce collagen and other structural molecules to rejuvenate skin laxity.

Yes, you can use it along the jawline at the bone, subcutaneous and subdermal levels but you would be best advised to stimulate tightening of the entire facial surface including the cheeks, naso-jugal folds, nasolabial folds, marionette folds, chin – jaw – nasal – and cheek recessions as well.

As reviewed above, I also recommend considering external retinoids too.

Please consult with a well experienced, skillful Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to review your desires and to best achieve your goals.  All the best!
