Q. CoolSculpting massage? I’ve been told you don’t need it, is this is true? Does it impede results? I previously had 4 applicators, 2 on lower abdomen and 2 flanks each for 35 minutes. After each treatment I had a 2 minute massage to help breakdown the fat etc. I have enquired at a different place for my arms and legs however they said that because the machine only requires a 30 minute treatment it doesn’t require the massage? Can a qualified professional confirm this please? I’m tempted to do the massage on myself because I don’t know how I feel about that advice.
A. I agree with you, massage following CoolSculpting is beneficial. I believe it promotes a better result in 2 ways:
- Deep lymphatic style massage immediately following the CoolSculpting is found to add up to a 5% further reduction in fat cells. I believe this is due to further rupture of any residual near-viable cells.
- Deep upward lymphatic massage will assist healing in:
- reducing swelling
- hasten remodeling of the scar toward a thinner scar in an upward direction rather than a lumpier more gravity-dependent scar.
Keep up the good work! All the best!
