Q. Looking into different treatments for my knees. I need advice on deciding between all the different treatments. CoolSculpting? I’m 42 years old, physically fit but have always had chubby droopy knees. Lately I’ve been looking into coolsculpting but not sure if that will help at all and tired of spending money on treatments that don’t work.
A. Congenital and aging related chubby knees, cellulite and skin laxity seem epidemic! 2 basic principles may help you.
1. Any fat reduction above the knees will lead to sagging or drooping of the skin over the knee.
While CoolSculpting may stimulate skin contraction, don’t depend on this as CS primary result is focal fat reduction.
2. New options are making in-roads in skin firming, thickening and tightening to shrink-wrap the thigh skin.
Discuss with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon your options including:
-Sculptra minimally invasive skin firming bio-filler injection series
-ThermiTIGHT minimally invasive skin tightening using radio-frequency energy
-Surgical Thigh Lift extended over the redundant skin laxity above the knee.
