I’m interested in under eye Restylane treatment for dark circles. Should I wait until they are worse or is 28 years old too young to start?

Dr. Dean Kane Q & A eyes Q. I’m interested in under eye Restylane treatment for my dark circles. My grandmother and mother have terribly deep and dark under eyes, and I’m getting worried that I’m headed in the same direction. I am interested in non-surgical procedures and read that Restylane might be a good option. I’m hesitant because I’m not sure if I should wait until they are worse, or if I’m too young (28), or the procedure would look unnatural. A. There are many reasons why dark circles develop under the eyes. Pigmentation or dark circles under the eyelid may come from any combination of the following: 1. Eyelid bags 2. laxity with shadowing 3. Cheek laxity and shadowing 4. Thin eyelid skin with a reflection of the underlying muscle 5. A separation of the eyelid structures from the sagging cheek structures 6. Deep or flat cheek bones Your photos are not ideal but I sense a combination of 2, 4 and 5. I prefer deep filler injections to raise and fill the flat or concave hollows with Voluma or Lyft to elevate and fill the tissues. Others may use thinner HA fillers such as Restylane in the dermis but you will not get the fill you require. Please consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, ENT Facial Surgeon for proper evaluation and recommendations. I wish you the best!
