Can you please tell me if I need a full or mini tummy tuck? Should I do hernia repair and tuck at the same time?

Dr. Dean Kane Q & A. Q. Can you please tell me if I need a full or mini tummy tuck? Should I do hernia repair and tuck at the same time? I have a 2 year old child.  I was told I have a hernia after pregnancy. Wanted to know which procedure will be best for me. A. A traditional tummy tuck:
  1. Elevates and trims the stretched out lower skin. The excess is removed.
  2. Tightens the muscle “corset” which flattens the full tummy.
  3. Creates a new belly button.
Other options during the tummy tuck which will enhance the body contouring effect include:
  1. Reduction and repair of any hernias in the tummy.
  2. Lipo-contouring of the “love” handle region and back.
A mini-tummy tuck will NOT provide the above and only remove excess skin between your belly button and pubic bone. Based on your photos, a traditional tummy tuck and the other options may be very transforming for you. Please obtain a consultation from a well experienced, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to fully evaluate your needs. All the best!
