Dr. Dean Kane Answers Question Regarding Botox in the Upper Eyelid

Q: Is it safe to inject 1-2 units of Botox in the upper eyelid on one side where there is sagging?

A: Botox and similar injectable muscle relaxers are use to weaken muscle fibers allowing adjacent muscles to take over and rebalance your appearance.

If I understand your question correctly,  Botox to the eyelid is useful for eyelid spasm (blepharospasm) where the eyelids close over the pupil or twitch. Cosmetically, Botox to the upper eyelid may cause ptosis where the lifting muscle of the eyelid is weakened and won’t open. Botox to the lower eyelids over time may weaken the eyelid causing it to droop as well and not squeeze the tears out.

Botox to they eyebrow area, crow’s feet and interbrow muscle can provide a arch or brow lift when performed by and advance and Board Certified injector with great experience and skills.

Please seek the advice of such an injector to determine what is best for you.

All the best!
