Would under eye filler such as Restylane help solve my problem?

Dr. Dean Kane Q & A shutterstock_7859413Q. I am a 31 year old female, In the last 2-3 years I’ve observed the under eye area become hollow and baggy looking. I would be interested in a non-surgical procedure and one that would yield the most favorable results. I am also concerned about the darkening of the area and not sure what would improve that. I am of Italian and Romanian decent, olive skin tones. A.  It appears that a descent in the soft-tissues and fat compartments of the cheek along with a natural laxity in the septum orbitale, the membrane which maintains the fat behind the eye are creating the hollowing and fat bags seen symmetrically under your eyes. Properly performed deep facial fillers may help “fill” and project the cheek and possibly even camouflage the eye-bag / cheek fold but a much more permanent and youthful appearing solution may be lower eyelid blepharoplasty with a mid-face lift. Whether you decide in a minimally invasive (filler) approach or a surgical approach, this are very advanced techniques and requires a true artistic and talented, well experienced, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or ENT Facial surgeon. Please obtain proper evaluation to include eyelid function and tightness. The darkening under your eyes may be due to shadowing or pigmentation. Proper fill with your tissues (mid-face lift) or fillers and the use of a ZO Obagi Skin Health regimen to control pigmentation will help. I wish you the very best with this!
