Q. Under eye wrinkles while smiling after Botox. How do I deal with these lines? I’m 39 y/o and just had my first Botox treatments in my forehead(15units) and crows feet (5 units each side) I’m very happy except it seems like when I smile it appears that I have more lines and wrinkles under my eyes..What can I do to correct it? Filler? Laser? I’m confused..Thanks!
A. As the Anti-Aging Medical Marketplace grows, the options become more confusing. Learning the different categories will help. Please see the reference link below to make sense of it all.
Botox and Dysport are injectable medicines which paralyze muscle fibers, weakening portions of the muscle bundle but not the entire muscle group. By injecting the circular muscle along the lateral eyebrow and the triangle of muscles between the eyebrows, the frontalis muscle of the forehead is able to pull the eyebrow upward without opposition.
This change in expressive muscle balance may allow other muscles to pull with less restraint causing wrinkles and folds of the forehead, lower eyelids and cheeks. The following is a partial list of options to discuss with your Board Certified, talented and well experienced Plastic Surgeon and Team:
- Obagi ZO Skin Health
- Chemical Peels and Laser
- Sculptra
- Fillers including Radiesse and fat
- Botox / Dysport for dynamic wrinkles injected in tiny amounts very superficially by very skilled injector.
I hope this has been helpful. All the best!
