Dr. Dean Kane Q & A shutterstock_67057519 Q. Hi , I am 42 years old and the lines under my mouth are getting worse, do you have any recommendation? Would you recommend a facelift or fillers? How I can get rid of this sad mouth? A. I believe it is the folds from the corner of your mouth down to the chin and in front of the jowl you are speaking of. These are passive folds created by the wave like descent of skin laxity and called the marionette line or folds. You may also find the same along the nose to the cheek, call the nasolabial fold and from the inner corner of the eye separating the upper cheek mound, called the nasojugal fold or tear trough. While fillers will provide a softening of these folds and give you the average of a year of improvement. The underlying tissues are also aging, descending, separating and diminishing. For the cost and short enhancement following filler, I recommend you consider a facelift. Your neck appears well defined and will further improve with a properly performed facelift. Use the cost of fillers at a later time to touch up. There is more information on the links below. I hope this is helpful! I wish you the best!
