How Does The Face Age Over Time?
This diagram shows how the face ages. In your 30’s and early 40’s the skin on the face is firm and tight and plump with fat pockets that are highly connected to each other. So the face looks smooth without any signs of hollowing or wrinkles.
Mid to late 40’s into your 50’s you begin to lose collagen and elastin causing the skin to become more lax and saggy. You begin to lose the fat volume of the face and the pockets of fat diminish and separate from each other. This loss of fat and separation is what creates the hollows under the eyes, nasal folds, marionettes and jowls.
Late 50’s and older, almost all the fat is lost in the face and the skin is no longer producing much collagen or elastin. In these later years you begin to see the severe laxity of the face and neck, wrinkles and jowls.
All is not lost and this is where Sculptra and Fillers come in to help restore loss volume and firm and tighten the face.
When should I start using Sculptra?
Ideally, starting Sculptra in your early 40’s would be the best timing to start the Sculptra treatments. If you are seeing the effects of sun damage of the skin in your late 30’s, Sculptra can make a significant difference in reversing the damage to your skin. It is much easier to prevent the loss of collagen and elastin when you biologically are starting to produce less. Prevention is always best, and you can stay youthful your entire life.
50’s and older, the Sculptra can still force your skin to make collagen and elastin and while it make take more treatments you can still see significant firming and tightening of the skin.
