Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

If you’re interested in facial rejuvenation in Baltimore, eyelid surgery is a procedure you should consider. Puffy, droopy eyelids and bags beneath the eyes can reflect a tired or aging appearance. For both men and women in Baltimore, Maryland, eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, can rejuvenate the area around the eyes for a natural-looking, more youthful appearance, dramatically reducing signs of aging. This procedure can also be helpful in cases where patients are suffering vision impairment as a result of severely sagging lids.

Baltimore, Maryland Eyelid Surgery with Dr. Kane

At our Baltimore practice, the blepharoplasty procedure begins with an incision along the crease of the eyelid. Excess muscle and fatty tissue is then removed to reduce puffiness, followed by the removal of any excess skin that is causing a drooping appearance. Once the appropriate amount of skin has been removed, the incisions are delicately sutured closed. This procedure lasts approximately one to three hours and can be performed on both the upper and lower lids to provide comprehensive enhancement.

After Blepharoplasty

After blepharoplasty, patients may experience light sensitivity, dry eyes, bruising, and swelling. These after-effects typically diminish within ten days of surgery. Most men and women find they can return to work in seven to ten days. You should be able to resume strenuous activities about three weeks after the procedure.

Blepharoplasty Recovery

Upper Eyelid surgery is the easiest of all the facial surgeries and needs the least amount of time only 1 week off from work. Lower Lid Eyelid surgery is quite the opposite of Upper Eyelid Surgery because the swelling goes in to the lower lids and wants to stay there. Lower eyelid blepharoplasties can take a minimum of 2 weeks and up to 3 to 6 months if not some time a year to see the final results of the surgery. The great news about blepharoplasties or eyelid surgeries is that the scars heal beautifully and rarely once all is healed that people can see the scars around the eyes.
